First srt set up

The ability to use the haas double is why I recommend it so much. So many guys come to my company on a Blake’s hitch or a sloppy eye and eye set up, see someone fly up srt, then go i want to learn srt. No you want to stop killing yourself on ascent. Learning srt and making ascent easier is different. I advise the haas because when you end up buying all that srt gear and you go to move around and it’s completely different you now have a tool that will work for you on a system that you are used too. When you send the order in for a foot ascender, rope wrench, tether and hand ascender with the trainees expectation being that the next day he or she will rocket to the top you give them false hope. The haas to me holds the same importance as the footascender in its ease of set up, execution and fall back if the double guy realizes srt isn’t what they were expecting

Even if you climb one line with life support . It sounds worth while in your situation to have an access line available too.. so having that another line could be used for work position or rescue, hopefully just positioning.. I personally like using two footie and two lines for long ascents. Easier on the hands grabbing thickness of two lines. Or the petzl ascentree comes to mind If you like that style.. If spiking worth while to have spurcender for sure . I thought it was silly to poke into the wet cambium with a spike while working near energized lines?

Lol, maybe he'd like something to work with this year?

Seriously, right after I wrote that post I read the post about the indefinite release date for the Akimbo, and RE hoping to have one at TCIA (like last year...). I recant, lol.

Find a used copy of On Rope and read it cover to cover. The arbo chapter is, uh, interesting. But, the least useful part of a greAt book

There's so much foundation info in the book. You can buy it used for less than half what a biner costs
Man, I bought one new for $50 or so and I have never regretted it.

Do you not put on spur covers if not spurring during the ascent?
I have not even thought about this.
I don't know if those exist for my spikes.
