The first intensive FA class I took was Advanced FA. After that Wilderness FR/WiFR.

I asked the instructor what the difference was between the two classes. AFA was for when you expect EMS to arrive within a half hour. WiFR was focused on care with a longer arrival time or when a medical emergency necessitated long term care or transport.

I've always suggested that tree workers take WiFR since we're likely going to have long rescue times or possible transport.

Hey all, been lurking here for years and registered for months and finally feel compelled to contribute.

I went and got my Outdoor Emergency Care certification this fall, it is somewhere in between a WFR and EMT-B. It is National Ski Patrol that usually does the class so it is fairly focused on ski injuries, however it is an outdoor based first response system so it translates very well.

I joined my the National Ski Patrol at my local hill. The training was great and the repeated discussion and practice of first responder skills, chair evacuation (using ropes, figure 8's, etc), and triage is very transferable to the kinds of accidents arborists might find themselves part of.
