First climbing belt

Here is what I learned to climb with in the early 70's. A buddy returned from VietNam...he had learned to climb poles there to help hang commo wire...he was also a chopper pilot and managed to learn a lot and do a lot while there.

He showed me what he knew when he got back and we started doing side jobs. This belt we got at a surplus/army/navy store.

This is the ID tag from the belt..date is 8/58. So the belt was about 12-13 years old when we got it.

That looks a bit like my first saddle. The scary thing isn't that we climbed on those saddles thirty plus years ago, it's the fact that there are people still climbing on those relics.

Keep the saddle, it has good energy in it!

Good comment...same as a "spirit sword" treasured by Gurkha warriors.

I started climbing on one that didnt look quite that bad. The buck strap had locking snaps, and was made out of nylon or canvas? Something similar to that.

The belt was a linemans belt that was a size too small for me, and it had 2 side D's and that was it.

Thank god for an open mind!
