First 7 jobs!

@Worthaug; I guess the reason I haven't chimed in is that I'm not now nor have I ever been employed in the arb industry. I get your point, though. Commenting on this thread without spilling one's own beans is sort of like going to a nudist beach and wearing a bathing suit.

Well, my bathing suit is coming off, baby!

1.) Paper boy

2.) Retail clerk in a supermarket chain, various positions.

3.) Electrical worker.

That's it. Pretty boring.

@Worthaug; I'm classified as an Inside Wireman with the IBEW. Which means electrician to most folks. The "Inside" designation is just to distinguish us from the "Outside" Linemen, who are the folks who work on the distribution system. A lot of the work of an Inside Wireman is outdoors in the elements, though. Commercial and industrial electrical work. The only residential stuff I've done is to replace broken fixtures or receptacles for friends and family.

I still pick up carpentry work in the winter when the phone stops ringing. Would like to get back to massage part time. Cranio sacral therapy specifically.

Having skills like carpentry/ woodworking is a nice thing to fall back on. I turn down more of that work than the tree care that I pick up!

Tim I've got a lot of respect for you sparkies. I dug a lot of ditches for you guys back when I was running equipment for a construction company. Those guys could talk me into putting my hoe in some f-d up places. Of course that's because I would have to hand dig if I couldn't use hydraulics.

Reed, just out of curiosity, do you turn down the carpentry work because it just doesn't pay as well as the arb work, and you want to remain available for the arb work, or is it just that you enjoy doing arb work a lot more?

I usually tell people about my skill set. But 99% feel the same as Devon so I show them some good stretches.

I choose tree work over carpentry because I enjoy it more and it pays me better.
