Firefighter tree rescue awareness class

The last 3 days members from my fire department had an up close training session on tree climbing systems and tree rescues. I set all of my equipment up and we went into detail on what we may come across and how it's different than the tipical rescue team. They were able to do some very basic climbing and talks of how to access people stuck in tree (mainly home owners over their head and hacks) it was a great training session. I talked the admin into buying some needed equipment to do such a rescue, which we've had numerous. The most important thing we did was made a list of professional climber to assist us in obtaining some of these rescues

Awesome!

We just partook in a class that Ascension Group put on. One of the local fire departments attended. It was a good time, and good experience. It is a good idea to touch base with the FDs, because we do put ourselves at risk, and their being prepared could be life or death. Also, they may need to be able to trust us to do the initial climb to set rigging for them. They won't trust you if they dont know you.

A fire resque group just contacted me to get a demo Wraptor so they can see if it would help them get stuck paratroopers out of trees. I didn't think they could use them due to nfpa standards but they think they can.
