FINAL footlocking QUEEN showdown

RESULTS are IN!!!!
and Kentucky has a rockin' woman climbing champion!!

and her name is...
Josie Spagnolo! Nora and I both concede the crown to Josie, she is an excellent young climber, a great competitor and a heck of a nice person. She swept all the events, and will do well in Portland next year

Can't wait to do some more climbing w/ her :)

Nora had a great comp, taking 2nd in all events, except AR, where I edged her out for the #2 slot. (there were just the 3 of us women competing). I think Nora's FL came in right at 60 seconds, nice and respectable! She did a great job! I think I now have to sing "Oh Canada" in my underwear during a blizzard or something, to give her her due for kicking my butt!!

My footlock was another story. I was the last climber of the whole event to do footlock. End of the afternoon... and I was simply spent. I made it maybe 15 or 20 ft up before collapsing on the rope. That bell was still really far away. At some point I guess they mercifully turned off the stop watches and let me keep inching my way up the rope. Everyone cheered me on like crazy anyway... the support from all the other climbers and people watching was amazing and I can't say how much I appreciated that. It was a good feeling to finally make it to the top and smack the bell. I'm sure that was a record for longest time ever!!
Oh, and the judges were all so nice, they gave me the "spirit of the comp" award, which I am most proud of and happy to have gotten! Thanks all! xoxo

As for the "tree chick fight to the death" between Frax and myself... we shook hands and decided instead to open a breakfast cafe & a line of women's climbing clothing and fashion accessories. No really, we agreed to train for the next comp and keep getting better.... the whole point of this whole thing.

Thanks for watching, and please keep practicing (especially you women) and putting your best out there, it's an amazing "family" we have here!!!
Cheers!!

The spirit of the competition award is nothing to sneeze at. I don't know you, Laurie, but I can tell from your vids that this award was well deserved. Congrats to all of you, and don't rule out the breakfast cafe and clothing line LOL! Especially the latter, there is a big lack of available women's gear!
