Files?

Just wanting to know what brand name files you would recommend? Been using Pferd for years now but Luke has the Save Edge files and advertises; files are the sharpest, longest lasting files on the market. A sharp, fast cutting file saves you time and money. Expect 2-3 times longer life than other brands. Just wandered what everyone thought about them or others?

I found that Oregon last long and cut good. Best thing to do is buy a box of each. One thing I found out is to not to have them just sitting in the side door of the truck. the vibration will ruin them. I just put the box in there now.

I agree with Ricky no matter what brand you prefer they need to be kept by themselves in a protective sheath. It saves them from unecessary abrasion and corrosion. I use stihl files and keep them in this case where they have individual secions which include the flat file and depth gauge also. It contains the 5/32,3/16 and 13/64 plus the 0.65 depth gauge and flat file. Throw in the chainsaw tool and you got everything in one neat spot. Just remember I am a small three man crew, so this does nicely.

Used to keep them in the door of the truck where they were pretty safe as the space did not allow them to rub. You just put the handles on opposite sides. But the pouch does keep them " cosy ". Figure they will last longer.
