felling a dead oak top

Cool /forum/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

But was it just me or what ... no sound?

Hey Steve, the big log that's left ... any good for anything?

must be a problem your end ekka, there was sound.
as for the trunk.....chances are its hollow anyway, even if it werent its full of metal as it was in the old fence line.....partly why we convinced them to leave it for the wildlife

Wildlife hey, did you do any of those coronet cuts in the stubs up top?

Maybe bore a few holes in the side too.

Although it was mainly a silhouette that we were viewing it appeared the bugger didn't want to go and you tickled up to the hinge then finally.

It's always good to show the cut, if you can get the camera off the operator and video the stump to show viewers what you did and how well you went... just a habit I'm in and it's good practice too at getting them right. Then we would have been able to see how much hinge was left etc and of course how good your sawmanship is. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

there was just enough lean on the tree that i was confident it was going to go no problem....but i tend to cut nice and slow the last bit till i see the back start to lift then i'll cut a little more. too bad you didnt get the sound through, it makes a lovely creak as it goes

Yeah, I got sound and the creek was great ... bloody speaker wire was out of the PC! /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif
