Can you just cut the limbs off right at the property line?

I was thinking that if you cut the limbs off that are directly over the house (on my 100' fir), that would be great. I just don't want to have to clean the gutters.

We got about half of it cut off, now we just need someone to do all the stuff that leans toward the powerlines.

Where do you get those cool tools from?

They cost that much?!

Where do all those chips go to?

I have some trees that need to be taken care of so you'll need a bucket truck. Do you have one or do I need to call someone else?

"That little thing cant hold you"

"so..what's that for?"

" you know, I use to work on tree too!"

and unrelated field that goes back to my retail days in high school.

"excuse me, do you work here" all along wearing a shirt with a store big logo and an even bigger name tag.

I'll turn this around a bit.

Job was pruning Garry Oak for building clearance. Protected species, requires a permit. Permit in hand, I explained to the home-owner that the 10cm (4") max permissible cuts to a viable lateral meant I could cut only to here and there...

"Oh we bought this property because of these magnificent trees. Could we go a little less? Just so they aren't rubbing the eaves and gutters? You know, do the best for the trees and the house?"

I wanted to hug this guy, but he was already busy dispatching his 10-year-old with a scoop and bag to clean up dog poop before we got started.

Rare, I know...

But that is my favorite customer line.

"Did you mean to do that?"

Man, I'm getting tired of that question...

Wow, now thats a client I'd like to have.

I'll add a couple that I can think of right now:

"I was going to do it myself, but..."

"They said it was supposed to be a dwarf..."

"It's already on the ground, so it should be pretty simple..."

I actually have quite a few of these customers, and I'm really thankful for it. My plan is to have ONLY clients like this in the future!

I work for a power co op clearing power lines (everyone who I work with still uses tautline on a closed setup, spike everything they climb and don't tie in until they get about halfway up). We needed to trim an oak in a yard. I grab my gear and head to the tree. The kid i work with says,

"Hey you forgot your spikes" I say, "I don't use spike to trim" I set my line with a throw ball and use srt to gain access. coworker says, "You're too advanced for this place"

"your chipper reminds me of the movie Fargo"

Also, i had a friend who worked with me and insisted on saying about whatever tree we were working on to anyone who approached: "she's pretty overgrown eh?!?" I wasn't paying him and he was hilarious but i asked him to stop after about 50 times.
