f@#*ing bastard thieves!

This weekend or this morning, some lowlife stole a MS200T, an Echo CS340 and a BG65 blower from the back of my truck. If you see any thieves anytime soon, beat them down for me. Seriously, I am not a violent man, but anyone who steals a man's livelihood deserves what he gets.

Local shop quoted me $499 for a new stihl saw, $220 for a new blower (BG85, not 65). Offered to throw in a couple of extra chains. I ate it and told him to place the order, but I'm going to have a hell of a time paying for them (insurance value of equipment, $630; deductible, $500--no point in filing and getting a mark on my insurance--speaking of thieving bastards).

Man K that sucks.
Same thing happened to Jelte a few months ago. 020, 026, 044, Bashlin spikes, blower, petrol duocan all in one big (not replaceble) black box /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. O and than there was the damage on the car of the breaking and entering /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I am not insured for theft out of the truck.... What's the point? They pay you the day's value of the goods (five year old 044 is in our job -pruning arbo's- near brand new) value € 0,00. That's great after paying up all that money on insurance.

I'll repeat what I've said on three other forums. The lowest form of thievery, next to exploitation of the elderly,is the theft which deprives a person from making a living.

Wouldn't it be nice to sit on a nearby rooftop with a sniper rifle and wait for those scumbags to slither in, and then blow their head OFF their shoulders. Then, we could chip up the evidence. No one would ever know.

I am insured, as part of the policy that protects my chipper. By the time you subtract the deductible and depreciation, I could get $130 from them. Then they'd mark my policy and if I ever had another claim, they'd jack the prices on me. Insurance cos. are the biggest thieves of all.

But it sounds like I got off easy compared to your buddy--I "only" lost a couple of climbing saws and a blower. My big saw was at home.

Makes me think about installing security cameras on my truck and all kinds of crazy s$#t, but of course all I'd do is burn a lot of cash and energy, and they'd find another way to rip me off if they were determined. Just gonna have to be more careful about keeping an eye on things.

Definitely. I am lucky in that I have another old stihl (020T) in my garage so I can work till the new saws arrive at the saw shop, but it drinks fuel (even with a new carb) and I'll put it back in the pasture as soon as I can.

This summer someone stole my 064. I bought it in 1990 and it still went through big wood as fast as any of the newer models. It was just a bit heavier.

I check the repair shops occasionally, hoping it will turn up.

Overdone with that sniperrifle. need to be a good shot to to hit um once. I like the double tap effort, pop um twice... So a shotgun sounds better to me, more damage and sure to hit... Today's paper quoted that a 72 year guy shot dead his neighbours of 57 and 60 with a shotgun because they were to noisy with a sandgrinder in the backgarden. thats a way to make friends /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

and for those wo fell asleep while guarding the truck, there are those caliber 12 'boobytrap' purchery(?) blocks that host 1 or 2 shells and be triggered by a wire (connected to the saw/gear/door).

The did once steal my 044, 036 and 088. they left the new ms200t and 066. The cut the windowrubber to get in. in the morning (05.30, dark) when i left i noticed i could see very clear in my backlook mirror, then i noticed a slight draft trough the van, then i got aware that i was missing a window. when i left home i ran over the window that the thieves put against my trailor....

We have had plenty of tools stolen from broken into trucks overnite. They even siphon fuel out of the trucks and chippers.
One time they cleaned out one truck and then broke into the same truck 2 days later and stole all the brand new saws and other equipment that was replaced (sounds like an inside job, eh).

Security camera systems are pretty cheap these days. You can have some connected to your computer hard drive. So, you can record the bastards.

My idea is this: I live out in country and feel safe. However, I am considering motion sensors to alert me in the home. Kind of like a silent alarm system at my bedside. The theives wouldn't know it, but I would be loading my firearm while they were trying to enter my truck. I would give off one warning shot--watch them crap their pants and tell them to get the hell off my land. To avoid animals triggering the motion sensor I would aim the thing to the height of a person. I don't have the kinks worked out, but I want to try it.

Sounds like a great idea! Go for it.
As far as the warning shot, as long as you can sneak up on them, call law enforcement 1st and hold them at gunpoint until authorities arrive. Otherwise, they will wait until no one is around.
