f@#*ing bastard thieves!

To avoid animals triggering the motion sensor I would aim the thing to the height of a person. I don't have the kinks worked out, but I want to try it.

my guess is most thieves would assume this and keep pretty low. you can buy alarms which are supposedly pet friendly, dont know how they work though. most of them now you can set to phone your mobile number to alert you without scaring off the thieves.

theres a local gunshop to me that sells trip wire shotgun cartridge traps. it just sets off a blank cartridge, but it'll make ya crap your pants if you're creeping around at 3 in the morning.

It's not unusual to have a floow up from the thieves. They know that the stuff will be replaced so they help themselves again.

Motion detectors can be used to trigger any number of things. Flood lights, security cameras, recordings "Smile your're on Candid Camera! The police will be here so sit down and relax". I read on a gardening forum about a fellow who wired an irrigation valve into the sprinklers in his garden to protect the veggies from the deer and raccoons. The possibilities are endless.

I used to be a demolitions expert in the military hence the name. I could rig up your tool boxs for you guys. And then it wont be theft it would be arson and the insurance company would have to pay not only that but the theif well lets just say there will be one less. /forum/images/graemlins/gangster.gif

I got jacked for almost 2 grand in gear last summer.. i had a couple local skinheads ( groundies of mine from the fire clearance crew) start poking around and wouldn't you know .. 2 days later we knew who took it and a week later we had it back , although i had already replaced most of it . worked out great most the lowlife in town knew that our company would inflict great pain or burn their homes down if they stole from us. after all i do this because i love it and it feeds my familly i also bought me a nice big brindle pit to sit in the truck with the gear. i feel your pain , and hope you recover from this unnecissary financial burden sooon just keep thinking karma will get them too

I got up yesterday morning and found my car was gone! I went in to call the police and then someone called me to tell me where it was.

I called the police and they said they knew about it and were on there way and that it had been used in a crime and that I should not touch anything.

I went in my truck to see the damage for my self.

This picture is how I found it!

On the way home I called in at the sex shop. They had been truly screwed!!

The owner was there inspecting the damage and he invited me in and showed me the security camera footage of my car coming through the front door! He said he would try to e mail it to me, I'll post it if he does.

Wolter, the car is totally shafted. Every panel bent, doors not closing, belly pan pushed up, oil sump smashed.

I'll find out tomorrow what I'll get for it but it won't be much as it was quite old. I just put two new tyres on it (now destroyed) and filled it up with petrol, thats an addition 150pounds wasted.

Turns out that when Soco ( scenes of crimes officers) went through all the stuff, there was about 600 DVD's under all the other "toys". looks like the theives made a giant cock up this time!!

The track it was down was really rough. A good driver in daylight (me) would get down it in that subaru. The recovery guy said he would pull it out with an old land rover Discovery. I bet him ten pounds the Disco wouldn't make it as far up the track as my car.

Today I collected! Turns out they had to get a local farmer with a tractor to get the disco out of the ditch and then use the tractor to pull my car out.

A bit funny but still a pain. One more thing you gotta do. About 10 years ago we got jacked to the tune of around 15k in tools. The took every rope, harness, block pulley biner, saw etc. We did not work for around 2 days as the boss had to re-tool.

Rather brings to mind a year or so ago an Aussie name Derek posted something similar on arboristsite. As I recall, he'd had his wife's car loaded with all his equipment and gone somewhere seaside (distant) to work. After driving all night (or sleeping in the car?) he went for a swim. When he got back to where his car was, it wasn't. They found it completely trashed in a location that appeared by the photos to have been a place the cops should have been posting a full-time sentry to watch for such shenanigans. Poor fellow was completely wiped out by the event and didn't even have the wherewithal to earn the money he'd need to replace the equipment...

Thieves should be terminated.

By comparison, Glens, I've been lucky. They took no tools and I still have my truck so work goes on. The car was old and had served me well. I didn't want to replace it just yet but now will have to. I want to get another subaru but the police say thay all end up through shop windows!

Hà Rupe, that's becouse thieves know what a reliable quality car looks like. Look at the bright side, you can have sleepless nights thinking what car will be yours next.
