Ever cut your rope to Escape?

Went up in the tree to retrieve my gear and set cables this afternoon. Bee suit works but got rained out this time. I’m guessing pics are in order.

The one behind the palm. The drop was at the level of the tallest palm head.

Bees were sealing up the hole and very mellow. Only got one cable attachment on that side today before the lightning closed up shop. Bee safe! Lol.

@Tree_Frog; Great photos! Thanks for posting them. The bee suit looks brand new! If you don't mind my asking, how much did it cost?

It must have been hot wearing that thing in Florida. Looks like a PITA. Glad everything turned out ok.

One last question is who took the photos? Well composed, nice shots. Work partner?

Tim

After checking out the tree that day and finding the bees still there I ran down to Rural King and picked up the suit and gloves for $100. It was hot. I would not have worn it for the other two limb attachments.

The Photos were shot by one of my employees. He has a good eye for the shots.

Thanks.

Bump worthy thread here I think. I know it’s an older thread, but all the same, I’m glad you came of this ok, @Tree_Frog

I’ve never had to cut my rope and hope I never do.

If there’s stinging insects nesting in a tree I’m just not going up there. I’ve rescheduled jobs for winter due to bees or hornets before. The beekeepers suit is probably the next best idea.

Early in my career when I was a brush dragger, I saw a climber get his forearm pinned and trapped between a crotch and a loaded rigging rope. To lower the piece with the rope running over his arm would’ve flayed his arm. He ended up cutting the rigging line with handsaw and smashed a fence. If he hadn’t had a handsaw we probably would’ve been calling the fire department.
