Euro mobile crane in video

Cool vid Sir Ed.

Lokks like you had a lot of room there for the crane and all.. Why were you using a crane? Is it less per man hour for it?

the trees were leaning back off the site, and over a main road. our roads are so narrow and tight here, theres no way we could sit the truck and chipper on the road. so with the crane, we just plucked the whole tree into the site next to the chipper. and the last bit of the video shows how tight it was to get in

Nice tight package on that Crane, 75 bucks that's right cheap. 50ton in MPLS will cost you $175 hour. How long is the Stick on that rig?

not paid for, its just a very competitive sector over here. Ithink he had about 110" of boom, with 30" of fly boom.
I just worked out the exchange rate, its more like $62 an hour - and thats covered by their insurance too.
If I wanted to go for an older crane and cover it with my insurance, I could get it for about $40 an hour.

What? NOOOOO WAY! I woul;d never do that. Especially with an "older" crane. Let the customer pay for everything and the crane co. pay for their own insurance.

the crane company charge me an extra 10% on the hourly rate to cover it themselves, which I think is ridiculously good value for me. and an older crane might be (gasp!) 10 years old...

Do you run your own cranes Mark? I must say I really like the 'boom' trucks you guys can get. I tend to do far more crane dismantles than rigging, as cranes are such good value for money. I'm going to import a boom truck at some point I think /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
