estimating removals/pruning

A contractor I had to take to court called me to get a 36" Poplar down.Leave all debris. I priced it for $500 up front. The others had planned to climb it. Notch backcut and wedge....15 minutes...havent heard from him since but it paid for my time in court. /forum/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Yeh,I took him and the homeowner to court. I got the judgement in 2002 and just got paid 11/05 after seizing the owners vehicle. It was only 1200 when I started but he had to pay over 1800 by the time I got done. I no longer work with either of them.

The best I have made with a 2 man crew and no outside expenses (crane, roll off yada yada) was 600 per hour, granted only 2 hours but still :).

Depending on the work (trees or stumps), and who is working with me (got one really good guy) I make at least 100 per hour in my little town. I priced the local university at $75 per hour to use my kit, either the manly lift or climbing and my rigging, saws, ME of course running everything, basically a contract climber/rigger. Should know something about that in a couple weeks. He asked what would it cost to trim these 9 live oaks, I said I estimated $350 deadwooding and ventana pruning one. Smallish oaks, nothing to it.

I priced a lawyer today at 100 per for contract climbing, working around some high voltage and doing some work for the county.

Working by myself I will make no less than 75 per hour to use my kit. Add a guy and its at least 100 per hour, but its not uncommon for me and Daniel to bring in twice that pretty well standard on jobs.

"Tree work" is valued at a certain market price which varies from place to place, how fast you can do it determines your hourly rate.

Tomorrow if I get cracking I can bring in a grand working 8-9 hours by myself.

Today I started at 7:30 ground 300 bucks of stumps, ate breakfast at hardees, ground 150 bucks of stumps, went and got a contract signed, went and got 8-1.2k in contract climbing (days work), came back across picked up 500 dollars from another contract I have finished, ground another 50 bucks of stump and was home by 1:15. I am all about working hard and sitting loose. Why work all day when you coulda busted it and been home/gallavanting early?
