Epic VA Treemek Build

So you can't really haul anything? I dont get it...us stick guys never really will i guess...won't the truck and crane mounting with no other payload be close to 55k? I wonder if that's why the rear mounted kbs around have a tag under the crane itself...they are heavily used for dropping/picking up poured foundation forms and are loaded to the hilt.

Curb weight is 50,990, available payload is 7744. I'll post the pic of the engineering drawing. Honestly I don't wanna haul anything other than the occasional generator or ac unit. The deck is a tool box holder and a place for my recliner. Ideally the tag under the rear mount crane would dampen the beating the boom takes going down the road. The drop just makes the load distribution easier for adjustment from what I understand. Like I said, I didn't need one but having one was desirable because it makes things a little less rough on the unit. I've had to shift a good amount of weight to the steering axle. The mat rack will be between the cab and headboard. There will be 24 4x8 synthetic mats up there and 80' of dunnage going into underbody storage behind the fuel tank. One on each side. 2 60" job boxes on the deck near the headboard The only thing being stored on the rear headboard will be the saw and a small chainsaw storage box. It's going to be laid out very user friendly with open space to put my indian fro transport when I need to leave the truck on site or if I travel. I just need to have a liftable motorcycle mount fabbed at some point. Down the road I will get the smallest saw Mecanil makes as well. Second saw on the rear headboard. Not exactly sure if I explained anything or not.

The guy I use sometimes, has 8' high sides on the back, he puts the entire tree right in the back and hauls it away. One truck, one man, full removal operation, pretty slick. I think his truck is 80,000GVW. The machine is amazing and what a time saver, I bet you're pretty excited, I know I would be. ;-)

We had the walnut tree in the picture done in an hour and a half. He put all the limbs on the truck and the big saw logs went in my trailer. No chipping and very minimal raking. He is not cheap, but on certain jobs its the best option. There was no access to this tree from the driveway (other side) and they didn't want the arbs destroyed. Would have taken hours to rig down and all the wood would have had to been cut small and carried out. That would have been a shame, since that log netted over 700bf of nice lumber.

He has an 18" chipper at his shop and he unloads the truck and stuffs it in the chipper with the grapple.

Here is a song-- Kenworth of My Dreams-- that may loosely apply for you Steve. I've been following your story for some time, much respect for you. I'm excited for your next step.

I think the gov makes the rules so convoluted that nobody can be compliant. Did you think my weight was low? Wondered why you were asking earlier.
I did with having the pusher! I also thougjt curb weigjt was goong to be a few 1000 heavier. Its a bummer finding out how weak our allowed weights are...i remember carl saying he was going to mount another axle on his mek.

Just listening in on this, I wonder if it would work to do what the cement guys do - have a tiny axle that rides off the ground and lower it when there is a need to meet regulations.
