What do folks think about this saddle? I am considering buying. I am 190 lbs, climb SRT / DDrt amnd do crane work. Currently in a Buckingham Ergovation that is getting older and well worn. Thx!

I looked at that saddle when I bought my last one. It looked and felt good, but I can’t say too much more because I bought a Petzl instead, simply because I had a lot of previous experience with Petzl gear and had always been happy with it.

What about this saddle do you like? The bridge attachment points seems like it has a lot less ease of movement than most..

I had that saddle when it first came out and hated it, but I don't think I ever left the ground with it. I bought it because it was light and had an adjustable bridge. But I didn't get the point of being able to lengthen the bridge when the leg loop connecter couldn't be lengthened. I hung from the ceiling a few times and couldn't get comfortable. I sold it to someone who hated it too, and they sold it, and so on....

I haven’t got experience with the TreeCore but with the TreeREX, which is a fine saddle. When I started climbing, I was loaned on of these. It’s very light, and as opposed to the TreeCore it has a normal rope bridge you can adjust/rebuild yourself.

However, I ended up buying a Petzl Sequoia SRT. It has a bit more padding and I appreciated the added comfort. Similar price though. Test the harness you’re buying. Don’t trust idiots on the internet, including me. Go to a store and try them on!

I’ve been running the TreeCore for the past 2 years. I really like it, but I don’t climb everyday. The biggest downside to the harness is the lack of adjustability on the leg loops. I use it with the upper harness which I really like as well

I could never go back to a saddle that doesn’t have lower forward Ds in addition to the hip Ds for positioning.

It doesn’t leave much room for customization of the bridge or allow different hardware to use on the bridge. So probably not very different than using a single ring on a rope bridge, which a lot of climbers are just fine with.

Any particular component of your Ergovation that you’re concerned about wear on?

Sounds like the Edsel of tree climbing saddles.
