Easy friday!

It's an old rope, but I don't wanna stick it.

A few years back I raised the limbs on this tree. That was fun then, and I'm glad I did it now, considering.

Nice post and pics MB...Yes, we all must be respectful! The more respect, the better for everybody!

2 questions MB:

Why not crane it all instead of just the trunk?

What the heck did you do with yourself before the advent of internet tree sites?!?

Ha. Climbed more trees, probably. A tree of that size is better stripped first. It woulda taken a massive crane to rent just to take a big pick. Much more cost efficient to strip em first, then snatch em with a smaller 17 ton crane. It only took an hour.

And that statement shows your intelligence! /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif Too many accidents happen in crane work when someone tries to over-use the crane they have. Bent booms come from trees that are too tall! I've even heard of a snapped loadline from jumping a top into a crane. And we all know what happens when we cut too heavy of a peice that is hooked to a crane. /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Smart way to do the job MB.

Cranes are the best thing to happen to us, yet!

Thanks. Ha.

Not sure how this job looked up close, but it looked like there was plenty of room to fell those boys. What do you think?

Oh, I dropped 70% of it, the rest got craned. The crane didn't even show up until I had gotten to the 2nd pic. There were a lotta freshly planted live oaks around em.

I just removed the fresh planted Linden at this site. Much easier and faster then rigging all poplars down.

As you can see the young Linden are removed.

finishing up

I topped the first two Poplars and the rest just by felling. Last (left) two poplars needed wedging. one day job and half a day to fill up a low part behind the dike with soil and putting back the Linden. One of the few sites where i didnt wack a lightpole /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
