Dual Pulley False Crotch???

[ QUOTE ]
Why two?

Because I have them and am always tinkering. I always hear problems trying to get the ropeguide style false crotch retreived. I thought 2 pulleys would give you the same smoothness as the ropeguide style with the easy retrieval of a standard 2 ring setup!

Ohhhh, OK, makes sense. I guess one pulley is big and the other isn't or do you have another way of doing the big ring/small ring thing.

Is the Buck Block a two pulley device?

PUClimber,
I think, Rich meant he had two pulleys rather that the Magblock Friction Saver you're referring to.

You can see the device PUClimber is referring to here:
http://www.sherrilltree.com/Professional...limbing-lines_2

Apparently there is a problem keeping the pulleys in alignment, hence the magnets. Or it may be that the pulleys pull together and the sheaves rub against each other. In any event, purportedly the Magblock Friction Saver solves the problems except for the price.

keep in mind, if you retrieve that system from the ground, the throwline can get stuck between the sheave and side plate. The same thing goes when setting up from the ground. "That's all i got to say about that" F.G.

Correct me if I'm mistaking the thread, is this more about a ring and ring friction saver that will be looped through a crotch, versus a false crotch that can be pulled around a crotchless spar?

Pardon any thread highjacking, however its related. I am curious how people set up their throwline for lowering down a false crotch after the climber descends.

Do you pull up your throwline and attach it to the large-ring side of the FC, then lower it out while pulling with a rope?

to jeff if you have two different sized pulleys along witha line that is rated and small enough to pass through one and not the other, its retrieveable. sean, you can attach your line to it but, that usually means you gotto drag your line up with you. When your on the ground the most common way is to tie a stopper in your rope on the large side, with your throw line attached near your knot.pull the opposite side of your rope, the stopper passes througt the large catches the small, then comes down...most of the time.. the down side of that is you will have three parts of the line in the tree. try and you will see.Check out your chapters masters, youll see some cool ways to retrieve. gear

thanks rob juetten, although i was asking rob j murf about the two revolvers that are retrievable.

You could also use a small ring (tied with a Prussik w/ some slack) off of one end of the FS with the rope passing through it, that way a retreiv-a-ball would still work. Crude drawing attached.
