Drt redirect?

Coming from a rock climbing background, SRT is much more natural to me, working a single line and creating new redirects is very similar to lead climbing; I try to climb SRT whenever I can; however, it's not up to me, so much as it is up to the tree that I'm climbing. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense to SRT a tree; just like sometimes it doesn't make sense to overwork yourself doing Ddrt. Hell sometimes i'll use a hybrid system with a long lanyard, or a second rope with Ddrt configuration alongside my SRT system. Most of it depends on the tree, and some of it depends on personal preference. Stay open minded and experiment when you can guys, that's the best way for us to improve the efficiency of our work

Even my son Sam at 7 knows what's up. Here he is running a wrench. Ct footie and saka mini with a chestie. All dialed in by me. Does over 50' easy peasy.View attachment 56936
Swingdude, do you run that poison ivy line SRT like that all the time? I'd think it'd get a bit bouncy and annoying...Maybe i'm wrong, idk, I've never tried using that line for SRT, how do you like it in that config?

I bought some Poison Ivy some months ago precisely because it was less bouncy SRT than the Tachyon Ash I was using. I like a little bounce so the Ash felt OK on a shorter ascent but for a long one it was just too much. The Poison Ivy seems much better (RW/ZZ or BDB). Also it is less obvious at a distance if I am rec climbing and don't want to be hassled.

There is a retrievable ddrt redirect in the tree climber's companion. A quick link (I might sub a pinto with biner on that side) on a sling opposite a big carabinier. The hitch side of the rope goes into the smaller end and the termination (knot or splice) goes through the big biner.
When you're ready to retrieve, you tie an overhand or retrieval ball or clip an XSRY (for the pinto) into the terminated end and pull it out.
It's quick to set and it works, as long as your unions are not super grabby.

Sounds like a complete PITA.

Hence complete PITA. After using an unlimited set of redirects to attain comfy WP there is no way I am returning to that. Continuing to move my PSP.

@Mowerr you get my drift 100%. The reason I am a push SRT is to help prolong climbers careers. But I never agrue the SRT vs DdRT. As Moss says it is futile. I like climbing the tree using my line for balance suits my style. Not for everyone.

@swingdude
It's actually useful if you're not an experienced SRT user, and pretty easy to set up.
I almost always run a wrench, but I have to stay sharp for the belayed speed climb.
I'm not going to cut off my left hand because I discovered the right. I'll just be right handed.

Barbados.
Just go there. He'll have to work you if he doesn't want the competition to have you.

I was harassed for years because I liked Tachyon lines for SRT ;-) Now when I reach for a rope bag it's going to be a Yale 11.7mm double braid (whatever color flavor of Poison Ivy it happens to be). It's the best line I've used with the Rope Runner, no slouch with Rope Wrench either. And you can can tie up a Blake's on the tail if you're feeling nostalgic for DdRT, Yale 11.7 mm lines work well for any tree climbing system you can come up with.

I endorse this 100%. But right now I am loving kernmaster.
