Dave, the corded mic just picks up the sounds with greater depth and clarity, the internal one on its own is very poor.
The velcro wrist band just looks like a watch with 2 buttons on it. There's a photo of it on the link to that website.
The stop/start does make 2 different beeb noises that you can hear with the earmuffs off without looking. I'd gotten the hang of it by the second tree but I still have a feeling it would do better with a new battery.
