I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the best helmet or hard hat that is rated for line clearance. I am going to be dabbling in it starting next week and currently have a vertex vent and a kask which from what I understand due to the holes are neither one acceptable. As I will hopefully only be dabbling in it I was wondering about Rockman with the chinstrap or bite the bullet and just get another vertex but minus the holes. I know some guys really like the pacifics as well any information would be great as I am probably venturing out to purchase one tomorrow.

I picked up a Rockman for when I am near wires in my bucket. It is pretty good for the money. I wear a Ecric Roc vent for climbing and the Rockman sits different on my head. I too try to stay away from jobs by the wires... so I went with the cheaper rockman.

If you check into the Pacific helmets make sure all the metal thru hardware is replaced plastic. If is not then it is not "D" rated. Some vendors sell it with plastic thru attachments some not.
