As a self taught student of arboriculture, the info here on the Buzz Board has changed the way I climb on a daily basis. Diagrams might just help some of us learn new things. We are all here for the same reason, to learn, share and have fun.

i present to you . . . a sizzle diagram

[/ QUOTE ]

I say go for it...Sizzle's comic strip works for me...I understand the process now. Then there are diagrams like in Jepson's book...they have helped me a lot.

Several angles on the same topic can help make it understandable. And it may lead to questions and exchanges that help elucidate a subject.

But wouldn't the content of your diagrams fit into an already existing forum? I think that diagrams are great tools, but not really a seperate category in the context of arboriculture. Now if we were going to discuss creating and interpreting diagrams, that would be different. I just like to keep things as simple as possible (but not too simple).

Here's a diagram for y'all.

Sizzler....frickin' hell-arious!!!! I like the pic of you shaking hands with the tree. Neat idea.

And, though the drawings were....juvenile, they were very understandable.

Does that mean I'm a juvenile?

i like the barberchair flash video. has anyone seen "Sometimes a great notion"? If not, rent it because it was filmed in Oregon. But besides that, at the end of the movie a professional faller playing paul newman makes an old-growth tree barber-chair on purpose by not putting in a face cut. They show the whole thing and what it can do to a person.

It's been a while since I saw the movie, but I thought that the tree did have a face cut in it. Or did they show a tree with a face cut that the faller/Paul Newman was supposed to be cutting and then use a second tree without a face cut to get the barber chair?

i watched it last week and what the faller did was just start the back cut on a tree that does not have any face. its a good movie, you should rent it again. that part is probly only 3 seconds long, but its enough to tell there was no face. the dad of a guy i used to work with actually did most of the cutting in that movie. he was also in the beach football scene.

As I remember it, Henry Fonda was having a hard time getting off the injured list.

Even better: "Paint" can "save as" PNG, which is exactly what you want (JPG is exactly what you don't want).

I think there should be a "Diagram" drawing function, like "Paint" incorporated into the board to facilitate the discussions. One which would be easy to use and seamless in importing it into the responses.
I don't understand, Mark, what you mean by a "Diagram Forum" ??? Would you discuss how to make diagrams? Or teach each other how to draw? What to use? How to import the drawing? Or to discuss already drawn diagrams?
Can you please explain a little more.
