Triclopyr (especially amine formulation - Garlon 3A for example) volatilizes a lot less than Dicamba or 2,4-D. Also spot spraying instead of treating the whole yard uses a lot less product and causes less damage to off target plants.

Treat on days that have a little air movement...not windy, just some perfectly still. Don't treat on if temp will be above 80/85 for 2 days.

Separate fertilization from weed control.

Use pre-emergemt herbicides in the spring.
