I have 3x8 mats. and I really don't think i would want anything much narrower . If you are turning at all, you very quickly get off the mat, even with a 3x8.

I was thinking I might be able to zero turn on two or three 2x8s with diamond cleats facing down and smooth side up. Are you talking about zero turns or articulated wheel turns?I have 3x8 mats. and I really don't think i would want anything much narrower . In my experience, turning on two mats never works. They start to slide apart instead of saying together. I suspect the diamond cleats down won't be enough to prevent that, and may even cause turf damage.I was thinking I might be able to zero turn on two or three 2x8s with diamond cleats facing down and smooth side up. Yeah, I'd need 2x mats. Trying to keep them low for ease of loading. I wonder if the metal connectors would keep a couple together well... I don't often need a lot of turn pads.oops. I was talking about trucks, but I can talk about mini skids
I can spin on one my 3x8 mat, due to the thickness of the mat it keeps your tracks from hitting the lawn too much (if the lawn isn't soft, grass high etc). I don't know if one 2x8 would be wide enough...enough of the machine on mat versus off. Two mats side by side never works well for me when turning, it always ends up shooting one or the other. I would expect this to happen even with the cleats down (maybe just not as bad), due to the force/torque of the tracks moving different speeds or directions. Also if using 2x8 mats for a mini, wouldn't you have to lay out double the mats to cover the 36"(+) wide unit? With a 3x8 mats I only have to lay one row for my 36" wide 650tx...so you would have to carry double the amount of mats I would.
