If you haven't already seen this, do yourself and those around you a favor and watch it. It is short.
I would like to know, who among this forum believe they are more well informed and capable of more accurately judging what is going on than this man. Shutting down discussion on complex issues and castigating those that would do so, is just plain wrong.

This morning my lovely wife will return to full remote teaching because omicron is infecting faculty members and students, and a few, including a child are quite ill...
Not so mundane for those who spent their holidays sick as a dog. Not so mundane for those who spent their holidays praying that their loved one didn't become more ill..Even less mundane for those poor souls who spent their holidays sucking on the working end of and oxygen bottle, with the hopes that it would allow their bodies and brains to continue functioning properly.

While Spinner sees little evidence the Omicron variant is causing more severe disease in children than previous variants did, he's also seeing no evidence it's milder.
"We do everything we can to keep a child out of the hospital. So if they're admitted to the hospital, then that means that they're already pretty sick," Spinner said.
"They're needing oxygen. They're needing some other assistance. Even if they're just really dehydrated, needing IV fluids, most of these kids that we're admitting for Covid are kids that have respiratory issues -- that they need oxygen and they need other support. So they're going to be pretty sick. You know, you don't see kids that are not very sick in the hospital."
Most of the really sick children are unvaccinated or under-vaccinated, he said. "I can tell you that virtually all of our kids that are hospitalized have either been unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated -- maybe having received one dose but not having the second dose and not having the full protection from the vaccine," Spinner said.

305 kids hospitalized not because of, but WITH Covid last week. In a country of 330,000,000. But because it’s CNN the headline will be “48% Increase in Childhood Covid Admissions”. Which means that two weeks ago there were only about 150 kids in the entire country in the hospital with Covid.
I sympathize with these kids and their parents. But this is simply not something rational adults would choose to re-organize a society over.

Yep. You can clearly see those who are swayed by drive by click bait headlines versus those who actually read the articles and then check sources and numbers.
The Fauci video you linked Implies that the hospitalized children are actually not sick, and you furthered this false narrative with your words. The article makes it crystal clear that this notion is incorrect.

I’ve been mostly clean shaven since the beginning, and I adjust the mask until I can feel the sides suck in when I inhale.

Dropping this here. This is exactly what scares me about this. I’m not too worried about myself dying or any of my immediate family. But if I had something like this, or any other member of my household did, it would push me over the edge

@evo Long Covid is a very real thing, and can happen to anyone, any age or circumstance. You are legitimate in your concerns. It is my biggest fear of this virus, I live at elevation, and cherish my health/wellbeing, and lifestyle. I lost my sense of smell from a mild case in Nov 2020, it took nearly a year to recover. I feel my lung capacity also took a minor hit, and it never did affect my lungs(while sick)…. A close friend who had no comorbidites got it in a similar timeframe and it seriously fucked her lungs up, she still suffers from pain and shortness of breathe. For reference I’m 36, she is 40 now.

Is it just my area or is a chain saw dealer (store) the least likely place to find people wearing masks? I don't think I've seen a mask once during multiple visits to multiple dealers during the entire pandemic. Granted, they're not exactly crowded and it's easy to maintain some distance. For me, it's become habit to don a mask (KN95 or N95) to go in a store, kind of like putting on a seat belt. Takes virtually no effort and can't hurt.

Napa here for me, the sawshop is hit or miss, but I’ve seen one mask on one employee once at napa. That and typically get a ear full of right wing politics
