Cougar help!!

Hey guys, looking for some advice on this. Got my new small Cougar in a few days ago, and it fits and feels great!! Only problem is, when I tried to install a kong accessory krab in the right slot, the darn thing became stuck!! We loosened up the slot some, and the darn thing still won't budge!! I believe it caught a thread of some sort in the slot, and now the thread's lodged in the hook of the krab. (Where the gate meets the main body)

Any ideas on how to fix this. We've tried pounding the darn thing out, yanking, twisting, pulling, etc. We're thinking we may have it cut off, and try pounding it out from the other way, but we're afraid if we do that, and we can get it out, it'll be stuck in there for awhile. What would you guys do??

Thanks for any help!!

Ya gotta love them old style "hooked" biners

I guess if you cant get it out any other way, take a grinding wheel to it. Cut it into enough pieces and it'll come out. Take precaution to protect the harness when grinding and use a very steady hand.

If i understand you right i had the same thing happen recently. I put a "hooked" biner in and while later wanted it out but couldn't get passed the hook. Can you move it in either direction Ranger? I pushed mine back in, then used a small screw driver, the one that you get with a sthil chainsaw to adjust he bar oil works well, to hold the hole open while working the "hooked" part back through. It took a little work but i got it.

Hope that works, i would avoid cutting just cause you wouldn't want to risk damaging the saddle!

Thanks guys.

Derrick, we tried that. Used screw drivers of all sizes to try to get it free. And it can move up and down, about 1/2" or less. We're going to try tomorrow to get it out, and if no luck, we're cutting the sucker out, with a hacksaw, grinder, bolt cutters, whatever. One way or another, it's coming out.

I thought it was "cougar" problems of a different kind for the young guy......

Finally got it out!! Called up Sean over at Wesspur, he said he had the small problem with his and he used liquid soap to help get it out. So we tried that and after another few minutes of fighting, we got it out!! Whew, not trying that again anytime soon!

yeah sean at wesspur is super helpful.

I purchased a big carritool thing and did a similar thing while trying to get it into the spot on my cougar that my right side chainsaw clip is on.i figured eh looks like it'll fit in if i cut the chainsaw clip out..well i did and no it didnt' fit .it got stuck ..poking a hole and just p!ssing me off a whole lot..after making some surgical incisions with my handsaw and plucking away with my T wrench i got it out.

any sugs about where to get that big ol thing to fit snuggly on the cougar..kinda wish i woulda went with something smaller..

Not sure on where the large carritool could go, but I have a small carritool in that same slot.

It was a tight fit but that sucker wont budge now!

Yep, that's what I have, though I put it on my left side. For my right side, I have a Kong on the big ring on the right for my chainsaw. I'm thinking about cutting the ring out, and replacing it with an accessory krab, making it easier to remove and attach my saw.

well crap i got the big one cuz i thought the small one was a little chinsy. i cant find this krab but i found a Kong paddle beaner with bent gate. i wonder if that would fit in one of the small spots.. now i hope i didn't damage the big loop too much .
