Cougar blue frayed...

So I bought this based off of recommendation and for the darker color. Well, I was testing it out behind the house one evening, using it in single rope setup with the rope wrench, and I decided to zip down the line rather quickly to work my landing accuracy on branches. Afterwards I noticed this on the rope and only in this one spot...Ive never had this happen to any other rope that I've owned. Could a defect have caused that? Or just user error? Any ideas?

Haas with a ct ankle ascender. Which they are both toothed so...that does make sense that that could have happened on my way up and I obviously didn't notice it since it was below me till I came back down.
ive seen that kind of damage from a toothed cam ascender slipping when you put load on it and it frays the cover. what are you using for an ascent system?
