Good morning contract climbers, without workers comp?
I have just set-up my firm
www.SawingHighClimbers.com
and will be freelancing myself out to other firms for the start.
When i looked into workers comp they wanted $18k based on a wage of $54k. Madness!!!
This is how to reduce that cost by lots
If you're married and trust them enough to put the business in their name??
Doing it!
So she's the boss and you become an employee.
She pays you peanuts/$15,000 a yr and you only pay WC on that which is about $4500.
As she's the boss and not working for the firm she can take money out the business account as she wants and only pay income tax on it.
Now whats mine is yours and whats yours is mine.
Get insured guys, workers comp will cover 100% of your medical bills.
Hopefully you will never need it, touch wood!
There is one downer, if you need time off work from a workers comp injury they will look at your salary and will only get part of that.
What was this post about again?
Oh yeah, i charge $50 per hr, climbing/rigging kit, saws, insurance.
Working out of NYC and CT if you need a hand?
Russell
Plus your wifes firm is then a Minority-Owned business which will open you up to a whole world of contracts to see you through the cold/slow winter..........
