Compact Bulldog Bone

Even smoother and lighter descent control.
Thanks.. as well does the rope sizing change with what will work with which bollard .? I realize were talking mm here but I've noticed big performance changes from 11.5 to 11.7 and know this has to do with ropes construction as well ,but with this mod will it hinder thinner cordage , allow for thicker , etc?

Here is a picture of the new Bones.

I'd like to have a slightly longer bottom arm than the one you sent me Gordon, I use a zk-1 pip-pin and large spacer as a pulley to keep deflected rope from running along my release hand. I've been asked to sort out some orders from my team, will email later.

There will be very small performance changes with this new Bone, and it may creep on some ropes that would normally use the 5/8" bollard, requiring a change to the larger bollard. It works fine with my weight and has, in my estimation, an even nicer release.

I agree completely. You could do away with the hole and make a 4 sided wear piece.
I agree!
As long as there's the small hole at least for a tending soft link I guess fours better than two by my estimates for this situation. How many climbing hours can a climber get before even needing to flip once with 7075 I wonder. But I understand why Gordon would like to provide options with bigger hole in spine

The slick pin for the ZK-2 is too fat to fit in the 5/16" hole, however you could drill the hole out a bit and use the treestuff pin that way. The new Bones have shorter stubbier arms and don't have a hole outboard on the lower arms at all. Also the pivot length is shortened 1/8" and the aluminum parts are 7075 alloy. I will try to post a picture soon. Oh yes, it has wider scallops to ease the entry of the rope into the arms.

so this 1/8" movement on the upper arms, is it for sure better? I am almost assuming if Gordon is making the new bones that way. I might have to do some drilling when I get the bone back....

Those who are using that configuration, I would love some input...

Mine came with the double set of holes Mikes, maybe 1/2 offset. I use the closer pivot (matches lower arm I think) and made a hugh difference. Mind has a much bigger offset but I would think the 1/8 will help. Milage will vary of course just because of so many variations.

So just about everytime my bdb is unweighted and weighted I find my bottom link halfway opened to where I force it closed or could force it open. It doesn't click closed as well as the top one. Is there something I could put in there to help it want to stay closed?

If it was me I would just GENTLY tap the end of the link to close it tighter by s few thousandths of any inch. About the thickness of a sheet of paper. Otherwise talk to Gordon, I think he has parts in again.

Joezilla, you cld try switching the bottom with the top. They probably aren't exactly the same and the discrepancy may work in your favor.

When I made a couple of the snap links, I found a vise was ideal to gently 'adjust' the opening for a firmer snap. Go easy...it doesn't take much before you have to adjust the other way with a file.

Well...I have one Bone left from last batch that is specifically set up for Vortex that I can sell, it will creep on anything smaller.
