Compact Bulldog Bone

I'm 200lbs and the way the bone is designed I think it'll bite fine on arrowfrog for you jtree the equivalent of the slippage would be like that of the sit back on the wrench maybe less .

I can only speak from my experience with my own weight and my limited supply of rope types. For me the 5/8" bollard works best on all of my ropes ,except the Velocity, I traded my Vortex for Tachyon, not because I did not like the Vortex, but because I like the Tachyon better. This was before I made the first Bone, so I have not tested it personally on the Vortex. I am relying on others experiences to see how they get along with the Bone, and with what types of ropes. The Bone seems to like a dense rope that is not easily compressed, and in fact works for me , for instant, on the Imori even with no bollard at all. I have talked with one climber who uses it on a 13mm line with the 1/2" bollard and says he enjoys how it functions for him.

Thanks Gordon. I have an abundance of Yale 11.7 which is supple ,but does get compressed easily. Not that it doesn't return to round or run well with the Bone on it. I'm on a search for the perfect combo with the bone , like I've found with RW In the yales 11.7. Think I'm gonna just have to drop more dough to get there rheough testing myself.I did try imori when I started but had 5/8 bollard which hindered ascent , now knowing you run it with no bollard and its working , I'm tempted to try that again , I do like imori in the hand and overall performance . Tachyons up next.

Oh man the Bone has arrived! Outta the box with the bollard on it, its smoooooooth on my Arrowfrog line.

what makes me say that is that i can work it like a hitch with one hand when, say, walking out on a limb. just slide my hand down the line above the bone, gently pressing on the top of the bone (Oceans showed me this and is a little better with descriptions, maybe he can clear up my babble).

i tried it on my Imori line and i could not do the same thing. i found the method of descent was a little different in an effort to get it just as smooth. With my Arrowfrog line i was working just the top arm and getting smooth action, where as with the Imori, i had to work both arms. but i felt both were pretty smooth when workin them accordingly.

now that the bone has arrived, my fall clean up is going to have to wait.

JTree - you can swap the arms over so that the groove is on the outside. Then you have no groove in the rope path. I don't see that is makes much difference - but I guess you would need it for phat ropes.

I've found applying pressure to the bone with heel of my hand while keeping hand on rope is sweet for limbwalks

Good write up, Andre. Glad you're on that pup. Enjoy!

This is what I was showing Andre, and you can see a bit in the DSRT video at about the 5:50 mark. Running both like that because of the orientation.

Chopping them down with the edge of your hand there oceans!? I like holding my line for the balance and how free I feel the bone just flows the rope out so nice . Nothing over my hand to suck up my glove no hitch to hold or eat my glove. Using the side or heel of my hand came naturally and helped me focus more with moving in the tree ,placement of my body ,and not as much on hitch control in my fingers .Not huge differences just subtlety I'm noting on my only experience with a mechanical multicender.

I don't always run it like that, especially on a long fast rip, but when you want it, it's there! Definitely on limbwalks.

Thanks for all the input folks! I'm pulling the trigger on a new climbing line. I'll post results in 2 weeks of my expierience with each rope I have available at that time with bollard combination and a fresh step on the scale for use as a reference for others. Just remembered that I have a hank of bandit stuffed in a drawer somewhere. Don't remember anyone posting trying thqt out. Maybe I can find a bollard that will even work with that.

I really like that Arrowfrog!
The stuff just glows with a crazy green I've not seen on rope, I like it a lot ,cant wait till its bit more broken in ,for the less slick off the reel feel and the real feel comes through. Its glove season mostly anyways right now for me ,except to day is like heat wave compared to the cold we,ve been having ,so the slickness of the new line isn't a problem really anyways. Neither is getting my glove stuck in the hitch anymore on a bone !
