Compact Bulldog Bone

I like the idea of getting data on the ropes that work well.
I do have one comment and I don't want to sound negative and I understand the desire to have this data but....
I like to choose my rope based on the climb I am making, static for tall trees long ascents, fatter more dynamic for smaller trees, lots of laterals, moving around, knotablity, weight..etc. etc.....
I recognize that every device is different and I think it is obvious where I'm going on this. Until I get more personal experience I'm just running my fingers but I wonder with so much being said how much of an issue this is.
Totally don't think that's negative. I just like routine, and using one thing that works in the majority of situations when possible. We have some 100' plus trees around but I just don't find myself climbing them that often. So Tachyon and the 5/8 bollard is my go-to, with the added bonus of constant familiarity. But I know where you're coming from. I have to go by the Keep It Simple Stupid protocol. Less variables for me to deal with I guess.

TL, completely understand. Each device has particular characteristics and I'm trying to understand those that come with the Bone.
Just seems a little like a carpenter choosing the wood based on the saw or the cut that is going to be made.

Most tree workers are not quite as diverse as you, Richard. They and myself also tend to pic a favorite system that combines the rope and friction management tool that best suits their climbing style and, once found, use it on everything.

Good point.....and that is what gets the work done, the whole point of all of this I think.
What makes a good mix is that there are enough resources here that time can be spent on the outside finding and learning new ways to get the work done for those that get work done.....think I'll go try to get some work done.

This year. Fall would be nice. Not too cold not too hot. There could be a wife or girlfriend or boyfriend(lol) shopping jambo. Microbrew tent for climbers. Post climb of course. About 12 or so years ago the Biltmore was advertising for an arborist. What a sweet gig that would have been.

Let's do it!!!! Set a date. Last time I was there I had free tickets to see morrisey and he cancelled like he does every time.
LOL! He was probably out back-stage, getting all emo and gazing at his shoes. Still a great vocalist.

I would vote for the Fall of this year. No bugs, nice cool air...
