cocoon ?

i'm getting ready to make a new ropeguide and was wondering if the cocoon pulley will fit through a standard large friction saver ring

It will fit but it seems prone to get stuck on the way out.

do you think the 3" steel ring sherrill sells would work better

Might be a little big,maybe try some different size caribiners or even a figure 8.A splice would work if you get creative with it or a big thimble.What I like doing is footlocking up a dbl rope and installing the caccoon with a prussik loop on one side backed up with a caribiner and tie a alpine butterfly knot on the other side and then run the caccoon thru the knot.then once you get down you just pop the caccoon out of the ab knot and pull the line out

thats a good idea, is that a static rope you are installing the cocoon on

lets say i'm not using an access line, could this work if i set it up with say a 7' piece of stitic rope as long as i had one end set up for retreival

I dont know I never tried it that way,maybe.use a little halyard shackle from a marine shop to retrieve it.
