Cllimbing spurs, which are the best for the money?

Re: Cllimbing spurs, which are the best for the mo

I am hard to retrain and tend to deal with things nonchalantly.
I have used aluminium bashlin spurs with soft pads with 2 straps on the leg pads for close to 13 years.
Thats now change as i have just started to use carbon fibre geckos and i cant believe how comfortable and and easy they are on the body!
These things are UNREAL!!!!!

I'm kind of in the market for new spikes. My Bucks are fine but the straps and pads are pretty trashed and wrapped with tape to keep them in place. I could replace them but I'd like to get some Geckos. I don't NEED new ones though, the Bucks with Super L pads are comfy unless I'm on them all day for several days running and then I just wrap up with Ace bandages for extra padding.

Mine have pole gaffs I think, I'm not even sure but they don't stick way out like tree gaffs. They work on most trees around here (big tulips and pines included) but on ivy monsters I find myself wishing for longer gaffs.
Thing is, the high heel thing bugs me. Working up a little 12" tree with long gaffs sounds teetery to me and difficult to position when chunking down a skinny leaning spar.

I've used Geckos that aere adjusted too short for me and they HURT. I'm assuming it was the adjustment since everybody else swears by them.

Climb Right seems like a nice mid-range option, I wouldn't mind trying some of them out for a week or so. I know you DON'T want Wolf Claw spikes... they suck out loud.
Save your money...Keep you Bucks and put either some Caddy Pads or some Buck Super Wraps (with the steel inserts) on em'.. Done...Buck gaff profile is better than the Gecko's.
