Climbing shoes

Im looking for a pair of kiking style climbing shoes (steel cap) what are some good options. mid to low price range.

Thanks guys.

Im slowly sifting through this awesome forum

Typo "hiking boot" style of boot. the ones im looking for are the ones that a used at the comps, but the pro acsents are a little to pricey fo my budget

I just bought my second pair of Lowa Tempest Lo shoes. No steel toe, no hi top. But the first pair lasted a year and a half of full time use and they still have game.

I can't recommend them highly enough for tree climbing... they even work with spikes.

EDIT: just noticed that second post...

The Lowas are perfect for footlocking except after six months or so they get a glaze on the side rubber that make'em slip a little. I buffed it off with a wire brush and they went back to nice and grippy.

Annnddd... they're on sale at REI right now fer $90.

I’m looking in to getting some new shoes for climbing and foot locking as well. I have allway climbed in logging boot and sneaker for foot locking. What models of the Asolo are you climbing, Low top or high top?

I've been using Asolo Fugitives for a couple years now. No steel toe, but they work well for foot locking, limb walking, spur climbing, and using a pantin. I just ordered another pair yesterday.

I'm on my 3rd pair of Asolo Fugitives, they're high tops. If you use a Pantin you need the boot to cover your ankles.

Another great reason to learn how to footlock.

Definitely a smart idea to learn footlocking first. Pantin is more efficient for locking the tail DdRT, great for SRT as well.

Does any one know what the brits were wearing at the ITCC this year?

The red boots are Gronell Tango

Those look excellent, no metal lace attachments, also the arch looks low for improved footlocking. The toe appears slightly tapered which make sense, nice to see a light boot designed for rope and harness tree climbing.

Just ordered my asolo fugitives in wool/black. Can’t wait to try them out. I went to EMS for fitting and ordered online for 170. Save thirty dollars Nice
