Climbers for Christ

IMO, Prayer is communication, not wishes. My PT with God is very personal, sometimes involving a lot of complaining sometimes involving a lot of listening to the HS speak to my soul. A lot of it is thanking Him for saving my soul and asking why He thought i was worthy. I have seen miracles happen through prayer and i have seen nothing at all happen except peace though a very hard situation. I have seen lives changed. Addictions smashed. People healed. The biggest miracle i have ever witnessed though is the changing of a wicked human heart (mine) do a 180degree change of focus and seek the one (He goes by many names but is the only one true God) and His Son. History is a mean by which we can tell what is truth and untruth. Hitler huge impact millions dead because of ww2, the black plague something, Napoleon sought world domination, the bush family..., Democrats, republicans, most huge business owners; all of those make a ripple of effect in time that changes this world for awhile. But a little known Jewish teacher that performed what some call miracles and taught people to love one another and to think less of themselves, to put a huge God above themselves and put down religion was crucified on a hill in front of a couple hundred people for proclaiming he was the Son of God and the rightful King of Israel. That Crucifixion was a drop in the bucket of ripples. The romans crucified people all the time. But this Guy walked out of his grave three days later just like the prophecy said he would he showed himself and his wounds to other people so they could testify about the truth then went up to the father to plead our case to him. This little know Jewish teacher is still the most hotly debated topic, still the most controversial, and still the most radical. He has the biggest wave in time ever and it is getting bigger by the day. Miracles are being performed daily by his follower, lives are being changed daily, families are being changed for generations. That in itself speaks the truth. It is up to all to decide if He is Lord, lunatic, or lier. Because a good teacher or profit would never claim to be the son of the living God.

I believe God puts us all in the circles of people, coworkers, and friends for a purpose. My purpose happens to be spreading the news that Jesus wants to have a relationship with You! I recently discovered a personal relationship with the Creator about 1 year ago. Be advised! this is not a ploy for money, an ad for a specific church, or a scam. I'm trying to start a website / blog / newsletter.....not sure yet, about how Christ and treework are so very much alike. If you would be interested in receiving such emails or know of someone who would, or want to know more about the Man who created the trees we climb everyday. Shoot me your e-mail, tell a friend, and like this thread. Peace.

Aaron, From Bible gateway tree shows up a 136 times, I think there are a lot of parallels between trees and being a follower of Christ!

The problem with starting a group called Climbers for Christ is the inevitability of Groundies for God, Arborists for Angels, Loggers for Leviticus, Atheists for Ailanthus (you get it?), Riggers for Religion....it'll become just one more faded bumper sticker in the history of humankind.

I am proud to be a follower of Jesus. Just need to try to serve him better which will serve me better in the loonnnggggg ruuunnnn. Im going to go down to the water and get baptized this spring . This thread did get me to read the gospel which I don't do enough. Awesome books right there. .I'm working on being a better christian. It takes lots of dedication to have a relationship with God. Life is a test. Life is a trust.
Trees play a huge roll everywhere in the bible . Referenced many times and situations. I think its because God knows they are one of the greatest creations as an organism. Along with Angels of this earth and in heaven. Judge me not ,for I'm just a child of God like you. Choose to believe in the father and things will happen. God only knows what though. Gods plan Gods time .
One more thing I saw in a movie recently
a charcter in it said "God is good all of the time and all of the time God is good "
For anybody who wants to bring up troubles of this earth. We the people have been given free will to do what we want. That's a gift right there . Just gotta be careful how you unwrap that one.

A Course in Miracles is an amazing book if anyone here is interested. I have read it in it's entirety several times and has helped me tremendously. Take a look sometime.

Ok I can't resist anymore. Seeing as the OP has decided to exercise his precious right to free speech, I am going to exercise mine.

Please understand the I respect everyone's right to believe what they wish so long as they don't harm anyone in the process or try to force it on other people which, for the record, I don't think is being done here.

The Bible is no different than any other myth or fairy tale that has been written throughout human history. All of the Christians in North America would have been Hindu if born in India or Muslim if born in Saudi Arabia. How do I know it's Jesus that wants to have a relationship with me and not Posideon or perhaps Thor?

Religion comes from a time when we hadn't the foggiest clue what was going on in the world so it was created by man to make sense of things because as sentient primates we have a need to find order and meaning in what goes on around us. Now we have science which explains things we do not understand. Religion is incompatible with modern science and all of the valuable scientific knowledge we have is completely fine without the existence of an invisible man that cares so deeply for one species of primate whose entire existence is but a blink in the grand scheme of things. Religion teaches us to be satisfied with not knowing and just accepting things we do not understand as miracles or acts of God.

The Earth is 4.6 Billion years old. Humans (homo sapiens) have been on Earth for about 195,000 years. Why didn't Jesus want a relationship with all of the pre-biblical humans who presumably suffered through an arduous, violent life only to die at a young age, probably from a tooth infection or during child birth or perhaps due to a disease that would be curable now? I guess those millions of human beings didn't matter but that was all part of God's plan. Gimme a break.

I won't even begin to get into the atrocities committed in the name of religion throughout history.

If believing in a myth brings you comfort or solace or causes you to behave better towards your fellow humans, have at it. But that does not mean it's true or that other people will want to hear about it on an Arborist forum.

"Dear God, If thou wish me to eat these cookies, give me no sign.......Thy will be done."

Zero evidence to support this claim, but you seem to believe it. Pretty obvious it's false though.

Atheism is not a flawless system or belief. There are things which atheists miss about religion, but they're worried about admitting to this awareness that something is missing, it is very rarely mentioned if at all by the prominent speakers for atheism such as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennet, Sam Harris and the recently deceased Christopher Hitchens.

The atheist mindset, just like the religious mindset does not fully comprehend or understand life.

Secularism and atheism have many truths which they argue for vociferously against the religious but their voice is very quiet on many things that matter a lot to many people.

The voice of atheism is at the very least quiet in the face of death, in the face of human tragedy, of suffering, it has very little to say to people who seek some kind of reconciliation or forgiveness or repentance. Religious traditions have tried to address these fundamental aspects of human life. You may think religion is wrong in it's origin, but religion has at least attempted to build a philosophy on trying to answer what it means to be human.

Atheists believe if only humans would just drop religion the future of humankind would be profoundly better, everything would be terrific we'd all be reasonable and rational human beings . But are they sure about that?

What atheism essentially does is to tell people that they live a meaningless life, in a meaningless universe, in a meaningless existence. Religion provides an opportunity for people to ask serious questions about themselves, ask serious questions about the universe and their own existence.

Wether you believe in the literal truth of religion or not, religion provides a form of common humanity, a place where people who have nothing in common, no socio-economic bond, no cultural bond except for the the fact they have found themselves in a place that allows the opportunity for them to seek answers to the questions of life.

Also, the contribution of the religious on abortion issues, the right to life issues, stem cell research, euthanasia and all these kind of debates provides an opportunity to hold back or stall scientific advances which could be detrimental to us as a species or have a long term negative impact on society. It is then, ironically, that religion is acting as the voice of reason.

Is religion true? the answer is No if you're an atheist.

But can religion carry truth? the answer should be yes wether you're an atheist or a believer.

Schopenhauer said, "truth may be like water it needs a vessel to carry it"

Religion can be a vessel for truth and atheists should remember this and stop dismissing and laughing at religion as meaningless when it's main goal has only ever been the search for a meaning to our lives.

I have much more respect for an agnostic than an atheist. An atheist says there is no God. Unfortunately for the atheist, you would have to be God to make that claim. You would have to be omnipresent to know for sure.
