Climbers for Christ

I believe God puts us all in the circles of people, coworkers, and friends for a purpose. My purpose happens to be spreading the news that Jesus wants to have a relationship with You! I recently discovered a personal relationship with the Creator about 1 year ago. Be advised! this is not a ploy for money, an ad for a specific church, or a scam. I'm trying to start a website / blog / newsletter.....not sure yet, about how Christ and treework are so very much alike. If you would be interested in receiving such emails or know of someone who would, or want to know more about the Man who created the trees we climb everyday. Shoot me your e-mail, tell a friend, and like this thread. Peace.

The back to Eden film has some great info, and correlations between salvation through Christ, and gardening. Paul Gautschi is a self proclaimed arborist a few hours a way from me on the Olympic Peninsula.

If misusing his name easily provoked an all-powerful God, most of us would be toast for smashing a finger, right?

That is not meant as sarcasm, but a fun way to look at what I think is true. Want to say more, but I gotta run for the night. Have fun!

Agreed. That's just my way of looking at God's mercy. We don't see beyond this life for those people, but I'm glad that as long as we are alive God overlooks our poor choices and misplaced zeal in hopes that we receive his love. I was quite a crusader that hurt more than a few people in the name of God (so I thought). Now I see that I didn't know him and my actions did not display his character, yet he showed me mercy. That's my story, and it's refreshing to share with you guys. I'd love to hear more of your perspective, Levi.

Btw, I enjoy this forum so much because I feel there is a genuine respect shared among members that allows for quality discussion.

Yeah, forums aren't great for this sort of thing. I really would like to hear more of your thoughts, though, if you're interested in continuing the conversation elsewhere.

I cant relate to the first post in this thread, I don't see the world that way. I see something else, life in all of it's complexities, I try to make sense of them occasionally, I ask myself questions like, "What are X Rigging Rings for exactly?" questions like this......we will probably never have an answer for.

I wouldn't call myself a Christian by any means but I'm down for Jesus... I think. For the most part I am not a fan the institutions that use his name.

I just finished a book called "Speaking of Jesus"...I thought of it as soon as I read this ^...speaks to this subject quite a bit...check it out!

what do you Christians make of this short story, how could you apply Christianity to this tale?

One day a man was pulling up a big fish he was about to catch and as it came out of the water it started talking and said, 'please don't kill me, I'll grant you 3 wishes if you let me go'

'ok' said the man, 'I want my son to come home from the war he's a soldier, that's my first wish'

'Ok, done' said the fish

'and my wife and I need some extra money, could we have $30,000 please?, that's my second wish'

'Yes, ok' said the fish

'I cant think of another wish just now can I come back tomorrow?'

'Yes' said the fish and the man threw it back into the water.

Shortly after he arrived home there was a knock at the door, it was some men carrying the man's son in a coffin, he was dead.

A few minutes later another knock at the door it was a man from an insurance company here to give the man and his wife $30,000 life insurance for the son's passing.

The next day the man went back to the fish and said 'can I reverse the first two wishes?'

'Yes' said the fish.

Well, I guess you could use the story to explain the finite nature of man and the infinite nature of God in relation to our prayers. Since God knows all things and we do not, it is prudent to ask God that His will be done and not ours. Even Jesus, knowing that He was about to be crucified prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." Matthew 26:39.

Here is a trivia question: Why do you think the Methuselah from Genesis lived to be so old? Hint the answer is not that he ate his Wheaties.
