The Climber Pruner, under supervision, will perform all types of work required for the planting, maintenance, and removal of trees and large shrubs, as well as related work. He/she will:

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, brace, cut, and fell trees and large shrubs
• Spray trees and large shrubs to protect them against insects, fungi or other parasites and disease
• Plant, transplant, and care for trees and large shrubs
• May perform tree inspection work as required
• Operate manual and power-driven equipment in the performance of the above duties and operate cars, trucks, and other motorized equipment incidental to the performance of the above duties

Requirements

• Six months of satisfactory, full-time experience as a climber pruner or arborist performing all types of tree work
• The planting, maintenance, and removal of trees and large shrubs, including climbing, pruning, bracing, cutting, and felling trees and large shrubs
• Operating manual, power-driven, and motorized equipment for the performance of these duties
• Experience as a ground person is not acceptable towards meeting this requirement

License Requirements

• A motor vehicle driver’s license valid in the State of New York
• Within one year of appointment, employees must possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s License valid in the State of New York; the Class B Commercial Driver’s License must be maintained for the duration of this employment
