Climate change in your life and work

Climate change has really affected our insects. The aggressive paper wasps that plagued us have been gone for two years. They've been replaced by a smaller variety that's not aggressive at all. The carpenter bees that used to hang around all summer destroying wood siding and trim pass through for a week or so in the spring and fall.
Interesting. I've noticed a bug shortage where I live. I'd heard and read that insects were dying off, but I wasn't sure if it's climate related, but makes sense. I assumed pesticides was the culprit, maybe a multitude of factors.

When I first started climbing trees in my locale 15 years ago there were lots of bugs in all the trees, from what I remember. Now the trees are sterile, like lawns, hardly a spider! No house flies anymore either, weeeeiiirrrrddd.....

There was another recent thread on the same topic where I shared some photos of tree die-off in my area here: https://www.treebuzz.com/forum/threads/trees-and-climate-change.49403/page-2#post-763458

The climate where I am is pretty mild, but without a doubt bigger storms, and more extremes in terms of cold or hot weather are in store. I grew up in the region and we never used to have a 'smoke season' but that is starting to become the new normal with drier temps leading to more wildfires. Given the tree die-off, I just bought a bucket truck, as I strongly believe work is going to shift towards removal of dead trees around houses/driveways instead of as much aesthetic work.

It’s actually one of the more mild summers within the past 6 years or so. There is some high altitude smoke. I wore my wool hoodie for the first half of the day. Tomorrow we are due for about .5” of rain and more in the mountains.
I’m seeing some stress relief in the canopy. Last few years I panic mowed before the forth of July, this year it was a ‘oh yeah I should probably do that’ passing idea. I did it anyway.

Far from normal but a solid break from the past few years. Many pathogens seem to be worse, had a pretty epic cold snap down to 10 degrees and lost many well established marginal species. That was coupled with a desiccating wind so there is that factor too.

I saw some deciduous magnolias putting out a weak second bloom today. They usually bloom around March here
What do you think is the cause of that?

There is a crab apple right next to a street light in a home depot parking lot here that flowers and leafs out randomly in the middle of the winter. I'm not sure exactly why but it makes me sad to see it! :)

I have no idea, it was multiple trees in different locations though which really made me think about it.
