Chipper winch specs

Nice video. I get what you are saying re the override. I was thinking that the winch would be good as a power assist to the feed wheels, but I guess it still works this way. I'll add that to the specs.

I think I'll look for a photo of a morbark with a winch to get the beak distance right.

Thanks again, fellas.

I just saw this thread. We have a morbark m18r and took it in to the dealer to get the winch put on. Cost 4800 out the door. There is no overide to isolate only winch use or only feed wheel use. Everything is hooked together so you can winch and chip simultaneously with reduced power to winch. Placing reverse bar in neutral puts all power to winch. I asked the dealer mechanic about not having an overide and compared morbarks valve setup to bandit, which has an overide (at least the one I used in the past did). He said bandit has to set up their valves that way because they use cheaper vales while morbark uses better valves that can be infinity stacked. I think an overide is a better, safer design though. When the branch we winch is against the feeder wheels and I have to leave the feed table to unhook the line, I will dial the valve that controls how fast the wheels feed to "0"...that way if the reverse bar gets bumped, the wheels won't feed.

Thanks for the input, Phil. I still have not retrofitted the chipper, but we did buy a mini skid! I will reference your info when and if I go to install the winch, thanks for posting.
