I was at my rental outlet today picking up a compressor and related this thread to the shop manager. We took a look at their Rayco line.
Their chains were attached behind the hitch mounting plate. At the location of the tongue attachment pin (where the failure occurred in this thread) was a short length of chain shackled to both sides.
I could see how they addressed the problem but it seems to me how this could be overlooked. Just a comment.
