Craig, try to get that anvil as tight as you can; it seems to really help on the machine for some reason. If the knives have been sharpened a lot you may not have the adjustment left to get it as close as you need to.
It will occasionally hold some chips in the shoot if it is having a hard time throwing them. Watch for stuff spilling out the end of the shoot. If you're chipping something that it doesn't want to throw, open the bottom of the chute occasionally to clear it.
This chipper isn't the best at throwing chips, but if it is clogging on you everyday then there is a problem. We would have it clog maybe once or twice a month. You will also get better at hearing when it starts to fill the chute with chips and opening the bottom of the chute before it clogs into the drum housing.
