Cheap Chip Truck International 4700

Glad to see you got it going without to much hassle. Cam sensors also go out of those 7.3's on a regular basis. I use to keep spare in the glove box of my truck.
Tailgates looking pretty good too!

What's the sign of a bad cam sensor? I took her out today towing roughly 10k and it really struggled. Tomorrow I'm going to change both fuel filters and filter screen. Felt like it was starving for fuel. Trying to get any and all bugs work on on this pig before April 1

I "Kinda" Know they guy you bought that from and he said it was always a slow driver and had a hard time pulling any considerable weight. Just an FYI. I would keep looking into it, I am sure there is a solution.

Ya I don't think the truck will be a hero as far as towing. I've talked to a few people and I guess they are a bit underpowered for the size, but they will do what you want. I'm going to play with the filters tomorrow hopefully that adds a skip to her step. Didn't really know much about these trucks but apparently the 466 is the motor to have. She will fit the bill till I can justify a newer international. Live and learn.

Put a chip in it. You get about 30 more horsepower. Just makes it run leaner and I think ups the pressure coming out of the injectors. I have one but I forgot the name of it.

Nice, on the tailgate. I feel that barn style tend to take a beating with logs. I woulda made tailgate bigger n had this as a chase truck second truck for big pine etc. I looked at a couple with the triple 4e motors but they are under powered no matter what you do. As long as it gets you to n from the job a little slower up the hills won't hurt ya. Keep up the good work.

Ya I think your right. Truck is what it is. Still happy with it for the money.

I just remembered. It's from BTS chip tuning.
I had heard nothing but bad things about chipping old motor. I think I'll stick with slow and steady, but try to get this pig to run at its best.

I scrolled up and realized you have the 444. Different world. Myself and another guy that turned me onto them have had no problems with chilling it in the 4 years I've had it in there.

No no guy. I have the 466e. Bumped it from 190 to around 220. Can't notice a thing unless you're towing on the highway up a hill. The tach drops less.

The 444 is the same as the 7.3l fords everyone raves about. Stock they are underpowered for a truck that sized but they are pretty good little motors. The tuners for the ford trucks won't work in the internationals but you can see substantial gains with a tuner. There are programmers specifically for the internationals they are just not that common. You'll see a lot more than an extra 30hp, more like 80 to 100 hp. The 7.3's are pretty bulletproof and as long as your not running crazy custom tunes designed for max power you'll be fine. Just get an exhaust gas temp sensor because you can get them too hot on long up hills with the extra fuel flowing.

If the cam sensor goes out it will throw your injection timing off. You'll usually get a lot of white smoke out the exhauat. It should throw a code if it does go out. The fords were notorious for them, I'm assuming international used the same one. It takes about 2 minutes to change.

They both run Heui injection system and respond pretty similar to tuners

That's very true, they both run on oil pressure. That's nice since if you rapidly lose oil in the crank from a loose plug or bad o ring on an injector, it won't fire on low oil pressure.

The chip I have definitely doesn't give another 80 hp. It boasted that it increases hp 10 to 15%. If you pump up another 80 you will most probably see problems.

The 7.3's were available up to 275 hp stock in the pickups. These and especially the 466's were bigtime dutuned in the med duty trucks. The 7.3s will run day in and day out making 300+ hp with zero issues. The 466's will have zero problems in the 350hp range.

Thanks guys. Yea Im going to look into a chip. 20-30 hp would be good I think.

Today I did the glass filter on the frame rail, filterscreen before the cartridge filter, and cartridge filter on top of the motor. Picked up a few new mud flaps from international for 12$ which I thought was cheap. Spent 120$ At home depot on rustolem paint, primer, and brushes and rollers along with a bunch of spray cans. Anything other than the cab will get a rattle can or roller. Now we just need some warm weather so I can get some painting done outside.

I got a price of 2500$ to paint the cab, which I thought was a bit high. Hard to justify a 2500$ paint job on a 5000$ truck. I'd like to be at the 1500$ range.

Signs for the side are rougly 10'x2.5 and cost $750. Those will be in Friday.

Still lost of work on the boxes, I got some hack ideas to get them water tight which involves ice & watershield leftover from my roof. Plan on using it on all areas that wont be seen from the outside. I also picked up a bunch of 3m "seem sealer".

I would too. They're going to start legislating restrictions on chips since they end up putting more NOx out the tailpipe. Leaner=meaner=more NOx

You'll lose power by leaning out a diesel. The tuners increase power by pouring in more fuel and some advance the timing as well.

$2500 sounds a little high to paint the cab. If it's a quality paint job it's not a bad price but I'm assuming you're just looking to make it look good from 10 feet away. There is a macco by me that'll do just the cab for 1/3 of that. It's a shitty single stage paint job but makes em look good enough.
