Had two rescues last week. One was remarkable because of how an escaped indoor cat was found. It was missing for 2 days, and the family tried various animal shelters to see if it turned up.
The amazing part is that the mom and son were just driving around, putting up flyers over two miles from home, in a rural area, and happened to hear the cat crying in a tree 100 ft off the road! What are the odds?
Jimbo, the 15lb cat, was only up 30 ft, but it was one of those fir trees with mostly half-dead branches 2" or less. When I got up even to him, the claws came out and loud hissing started. So I just hung out for a few minutes, acted like I was doing something else, talked to him and let him sniff the back of my hand. But he was pretty tired and didn't have much fight left. Before long he was in the laundry bag and being lowered to the grateful owners.
