Can You ID This?

Re: Another tree ID game for youse guys

What is the orientation of the cones on a Doug Fir?

I don't recall. I do know the orientation of Norway is hanging straight down.

Re: Another tree ID game for youse guys

Doug fir cones are mostly downward, a little haphazard. Not as tightly grouped as those on a Norway spruce.

The needles are too long and separated on this tree to be norway spruce. I'd bet money that this is Pseudotuga...about 40% of the trees I work with are, it's a species I'm kind of familiar with.

Thats a Brewer's Spruce! - Picea breweriana

I just know it is and none you can prove me wrong cause its the strength of my beliefs that makes them true.

Re: Yep, Another tree ID game for youse guys

I'll give a prize of $75,000,000 to anyone who can ID this tree I just set my line in.

Looks like a Sycamor maple.....Acer pseudo-platanus?

[/ QUOTE ]

How in the hell did you get that!? Thats what is! Unbelievable!

Acer pseudoplatanus or Sycamore as they're called in the UK. Very unlike the US sycamore.

Well done B'Bull, the prize money is on its way.

Sorry y'all.....been busy. Gord wins the prize......

the trees are pseudotsuga menziesii pendula...a very rare cultivar of douglas fir.

Ain't these three trees grand?! They are in a park just north of Seattle city limits..recently crown cleaned a tad, and the largest is over 50 feet tall!
