Life abounds in the outside world...

When was the last time you discplined yourself to have some fun ? Invite your friends out for a reality check sometime!

It takes true friends to get you out of your routine ..

Break-out and enjoy the pleasures of life while you can.

Don't put off till tommorrow, what you can have fun doing today. All it takes is you getting up off your rear and out the door you go!

Nice find. You sure get humbled in a tree of this size. A bug is what you feel like and look like. The climbing line is like a thread. You sure need to learn single line climbing to get up effectively. Not an easy chore getting up and over the big limbs not to mention the distance between limbs. The limbs are bigger then cars!

Robert,

What species is that tree?

Height?

Girth/DBH?

How long did it take to get to the top...or the top of the climb?

Did you guys hang out and lounge around up there for a while to enjoy and relish the effort?

Sequoia gigantea

Over two hundred and under three hundred feet tall.

Almost one hundred feet around and over twenty feet through.

Couple hours considering the time it took to launch the big shot. The climb to the top really didn't take all that long once you were up a hundred and fifty feet.

The one nice thing about being up in the big trees is once you get off the ground their aren't any mosquitos. As for lounging I didn't and I don't believe the other folks had much time to spend just sitting around. Got a late start up the tree because of some gals on horseback that decided to feed their horses under the tree. Horses can get spooked with all the climbing gear and such.

The effort was truely relished and enjoyed by all.

What a fun climb. Minus the misquitos. With all the smoke from the fires up there our visability was severly limited. Robert and Frans the CD's with +or- 150 photos will be arriving first of next week. Hope you can make the next one Greg. Tied in, Jesse

This tree had its top blown off at about 150 feet up. The limbs just kept on a growing. I figure we'll climb this one next time just cause it is a bit shorter. What a terrific place to explore the big ones....

They poke their heads up out of nowhere.

Looking from the inside of the Chimney tree out to the forest floor. It is always amazing what keeps this big old trees standing. Kind of like an elephant standing on one foot so to speak...
