Camelbak

They're the jam for any type of activity that requires two hands. I've used a hydro bag for mountain biking for about 12 years now (not the same one). I would consider the low profile 70 oz one, it's hard to finish 100 oz on five hour bike ride, no need to carry that much up a tree. 5 cents.

I have one for the hottest days of the year, or if I may spend more then 3 hours in a tree. I got the three lire black "tactical" model several years ago. As the guy above me said, less is better. I opted for one without any pouches, because I'm not in the habit of using a pack in the tree.

Just got one this past weekend. Spent alot of time hiking and climbing in Letchworth park, ny. Had the 3 youngsters with me and it was great having water available when they started saying 'I'm thirsty'. Usually forget the bottles and leave them in truck. Great to carry the geocaching supplies also.

I was thinking of getting one. But I was planning of gettin one of the ones at Wall-Mart. $20-$30 one has a little storage. And I just did see a bigger one at an army surplus for like $10, ought to go and get it, big for climbing but great for a day in the woods.

I have had a Camelbak Lobo for MTB use for well over 6 years now. Holds up extremely well. Ive put a couple new bladders and bite valves in, but it hasnt fallen apart yet.

I couldnt wear a pack in the tree, too heavy and cumbersome for me. I bring water up via the screw top Arborwear Camelbak bottles. Super strong Biner hole, and cheap if it gets dropped or broken. Easy to tie on for a refill or to send up too.

One thing to keep in mind is the less expensive "knock offs" rarely have the large opening that is standard on a Camelbak. I like to fill mine with ice and drink in the AM. It will stay cool until lunch when I switch to a second bladder stored in the cooler.

As stated, 70oz. is plenty for most days.

Blackburn and Nalgene make some aftermarket bladders that are designed to be turned inside out for ease of cleaning, nice feature. The best part of a hydro pak is that whether you climb with it or not the packs insulation will keep ice water ice cold all day, I have a hard time drinking sun warmed water after coming out of a tree after two hours of work.

I got the hi vis one that Sherill has and the breakaway straps are very well done. There isn't a portion of the bag that could get caught and not tear away. On the other side this built well enough to with stand regular work and not fall apart. The Velcro is just the right size.

Get the large mouth so its easier to use with ice.

I never put anything except water in mine so that I don't have to be concerned with growing sick-making critters inside. A clean coat hanger bent into an L makes a good prop to open it up for drying. Get an extra bladder so that you can load them both in the morning and have it in your cooler.

I have one, and the bent coat hanger works like a dream. the second bladder is a great idea!

I almost never climb without one. Heat exhaustion is serious, it takes days to recover. Plus, when you're on a spar, blown out, holding a 440 and have 4 more chunks to go before you get down, it's hard to beat an icy shot of juice and water.

Ive had one for a while now. I love it. 1.5 liter lasts me a while. It will definetly last me during my climbs.

What you want to do is make sure that you get the proper bag. Remember, you can always refill your bag when you get back down to the ground. My 1.5 seems to be perfect on really hot days but a bit much on cooler days.

REI is having a huge memorial day sale til Monday. 25% off all camelbak

I got a chance to use the Camelbak today, Awesome! musta drank double the water, it was a real treat to take a quick swig anytime I wanted and with minimal effort. I hardly even knew it was there. My only regret was not bringing enough water.
