CAA Climbing Comp. Winners!

Here are the top 3 winners of the CAA comp. and the top winner of the women's division. No times posted but soon Chad Brey will post those:

1. Straun Edwards
2. Jacob Clausen (sp)
3. Miguel Sotelo

Women's:

1. Rhonda Wood

Great time was had at Doyle Park in Santa Rosa this weekend. We had the most amazing amount of loot to give away to the contestants. Each and every person walked away with some serious equipment!
The top 5 contestants each walked away with a new saw. Straun got the big saw as number 1 overall.
It was hard to sort the prizes as each one was so valuable. We had to research the Sherrill catalog to make sure the sorting was fair.
CMI pullies, ropes, Silky pole saws & hand saws, ascenders, you name it, it was there. An easy 5 grand worth of prizes.
Thank you vendors for really stepping up and making these serious donations.
Even the last place winner got a Chain Saw! Well, a Stihl toy saw.

I think the contestants really had a good time. The trees are challanging and the bark was wet in the morning from Friday's rain.
Fred Frey, Chad and the others worked their butts off making sure this was a great event.

Here are some pictures

Rhonda Wood got first prize in the Women's comp.
She walked away with the new TreeFlex saddle!

I dont want to say she is lucky because she showed some real dedication in her climbing.
She had a hiccup and struggled in the belayed speed climb but just refused to give up and came out a winner!

This women is a great climber!

It was nice meeting you this weekend. I couldn't believe how big of a turn out it was. I was expecting a little bit smaller of a comp than the WCTCC. It was a great surprise.Chad and Fred did a great job and so did all the judges. That's a lot of hard work so THANKS!!

And I still can't get over how generous all the sponsors were. WOW!! It was really cool that they gave every competitor a bundle full of stuff that you could barely carry in your arms. It felt like Christmas!!

THANKS SPONSORS!!

I can't wait to try my new saddle!! I do feel a bit guilty getting such a great prize since I'm not at the caliper the rest of the climber's were. But, I came there to get practice so I can continue to compete in the ISA comps and use my experience to continue growing the Western Chapter Women's Competition.

Gotta go. I'll try to put my pictures up soon.

-Rhonda

Just thought everyone should know that Shauna Cozad placed a close second for the Women in her first ever competition. (Great job Shauna!) If it weren't for a dropped handsaw she definitely would have won the work climb.

Now that she has some experience behind her belt, the challenge should be on for the next TCC. Shauna actually learned how to footlock at this competition making it to the bell! I don't think there are too many people out there that make it 40ft on their first try at footlocking, especially with healed boots.

What was also crazy was that Shauna actually got into a pretty bad car accident the morning of the Comp and she still made it. Anyway, I just thought it should be noted that this climber is very determined and is an up and coming great competitor.

Bye for now.

Hi Lazarus2,

I'm so excited about my saddle! I definately received the best prize! Thanks BAILEY'S!! I've tried it on and it feels real comfortable.

It is a little bit too big though. I have all the straps sinched as far as they will go. Any ideas on how to correct this? Do you think I can stitch the ends of the straps to keep them out of the way?

Gerry mentioned if it was too big, maybe I could give Bailey's a call to see about exchanging it for a small.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to throw a rope up in a tree and try it out.

Are you the creator of this saddle?

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!!!

Hi Rhonda

Yes, my wife (a remedial personal trainer) and I designed the saddle with the safety technologists at Safety Technology Ltd.

The female form has a shorter torso and curvature of hips that ranges from slight to very. This can make it tricky to maintain a low position of any belt, and easy for it to interfere with the ribs.

TreeFlex being designed to ride the hips sits much lower than standard saddle designs and avoids this effect. The routing of the waist risers helps further. For curvy hips, the flex of the saddle adapts perfectly (remember a co-designer is a female fitness professional : ) The size small of Treeflex also helps greatly to fit the finer female frame. We believe this is the best saddle available for generic fit, but for women, it is that much better again than current designs.

It sounds like you have a size a little too large for you. Look under the green webbing before it goes into the adjustment buckles behind the hips. It will state the size. Click the Baileys advert on the right and click for the sizing information - work out if you should exchange for a smaller size before you soil the product.

It also sounds like you have the belt too high, around the waist. It should ride below the waist on the hip bones.

The webbing can be wrapped to keep it under control:

Let me know how you get on!

Looks like an awesome time was had by many. congrats on a successful event and I have a feeling Bailey's will be getting a lot of calls. What great prizes!

Thanks Laz for the info. I'll let ya know how it goes.

I have some pictures from the event. Here is one of all the loot they gave out at the event. Every pile went to each climber. I think there were about 30 of us.

I haven't been doing this long, so I don't know if this is common or not, but I was truly amazed. I know from someone who is just starting, that it feels good to win something, so thanks to all the SPONSORS!! You guys ROCK!!!!

I can't wait to show my saddle to the guys at work. Who knows, maybe they'll get all jazzed and trade in their California saddle for a new Tree Flex!!
