Hey Guys,
Planning on doing the exam in the next month or so. My biggest obstacle will be the id portion. I've read the prep book a couple of times now and did the sample questions plus other reading. Anyone know of some sample questions for the id portion? It would be nice to see what a sample id question looks like and the info provided. Also will you have to know the latin names? Any info or tips would be great. My town has a very limited range of trees compared to the list we are ment to know.

Thanks

I just took the test...when you sign up and get accepted they send you a list of trees...what the id portion is that they give you three or 4 pictures and then give you a-d as options with common name and scientific...if you know the basic trees in your area it will be easy for you as it was for me

If you go on ISA's site, you can download the tree id list for the area in which you are taking the exam.

I had the same problem as it sounds you have, my area of Montana has a very limited species whereas where I was taking the exam has a great deal more.

I studied until I could visualize each tree on the list with their diagnostic characteristics. Then I went to the site of the exam a day early and walked around the arboretum for a few hours brushing up on what they might be speicifically using for the id. It helped immensely. They might use photos, the might use live samples, they might use a combination of both.

As said by the previous poster, they are multiple choice as is the rest of the exam.

Good luck.
