I let the Sacred Smoke out of my DW drills. My mistake and no reflection on DW

This puts me at the replacement/rebuild crossroad. In the past I've bought 'refurbished' tools and never been disappointed. Most refurbs are returns which were never used.

Since there are so many bundles of tools most shops have duplicates or updated tools. That leaves the second-string tools collecting dust.

If anyone has any DW 20v drill...drill driver...half inch..no battery.charger needed...let me know.

I might crack the cases open and see about R&R new motors that are full of the Sacred Smoke. LOL

Wish I had any of that platform to send you Tom.

When I switched from Bosch to Milwaukee (nicad batteries failing) I couldn't find anyone to even give perfectly usable tools to.
There is an adapter so you can run your Milwaukee nicad tools with the current generation of lithium batteries. I found it on eBay kinda chunky but it works.

Milwaukee has an outstanding warranty where they replace/rebuild tools for nearly cost maybe dewalt has similar?

Today I took the two drills to the factory service center.

After chatting w the counter guy I decided to leave the two drills to get new guts installed.

The cost to have their techs do the work was only a little more than buying the parts and doing the work myself.

Cheaper than what I was pricing on Marketplace. CHeper than what I was pricing for factory refurbished.

By keeping this in the realm of 'bricks' I don't have to be concerned about package poaching either.

They're supposed to be ready by next Weds/Thurs.
