Butterfly II

I bought a butterfly II last fall. Great saddle I like it. But my leg straps and waist straps keep loosening themselves. I find myself tightening them in a tree quite often and its just getting old. I thought they would eventually just break in, I've spent alot of time in it and they haven't yet. Anyone have any solutions to this. I thought about having them sewn together behind the buckles but I would like still like to be able to adjust it for the winter.

easy fix...tie a knot in the extra material right behind the buckle...to readjust, untie said knot, then retie when adjusted.

wait i thought you were talking about the elastic straps on the back...as far as the actuall leg and waist straps go...i wrap the extra waist strap around itself and use a half hitch to hold it in place...but this is more to contain the extra unused legnth than preventing loosening, but it might help you

I had the same problem with my bfII.

To fix it I took the tail of the leg strap and ran it through (under) the hardware that attaches the bridge. (the serrated, textured thing) It works perfect, but might not reach if the tail isn't long enough.

The waist strap, I continue to adjust.

I too had the same problem. I went to a sherrill/vermeer show and asked mark c how to end it and he told me the same thing rock and trees said. It worked great and was easy to undo to readjust. I found that knotting the material behind the buckle works but also tightens the knot up pretty bad, making it difficult to untie to readjust

Hey guys I appreciate the help. The elastic straps in the back are about useless. I don't worry about them a whole lot. But I'll try your suggestions... man its a nice saddle you just think they would add a metal clip in there to hold the straps.

On my BFII I threaded the elastic straps back up through the buckles again to add more friction. After doing that they never move around.

Hey...I tried that too, but they always come undone. Seems like when I tie it in a knot, they get all stretched out. I've thought of using some skinny webbing in place of the elastic for a permanent solution, but would lose the elasticity. I have some webbing that would fit perfectly through the little buckles, maybe i'll try it.

I never really found the elastic starps did a whole lot. If they would have they would have used something a little heavier than those little elastic straps.

Hey I came up wih the ultimate fix. I got 1/2 inch velcro and only used the soft side but had sewed to the length of the waist srap and the leg straps. It takes the extra room out of the buckle. It worked great for me today!!

I have found that the back elastic straps MIGHT seem to do nothing, BUT when one is loose or not connected I know about it. I have had to, as Tom D. says back tread them to keep them in place. I only have a few dozen climbs on mine.

I see that the waist strap SEEMS to get loose, from ground to on rope, BUT i have learned that it is how I am in the harness once on rope, IF i snug it up when I get back to the ground it is a little bit uncomfortable.

I do not see that the leg straps at the buckles move.

sorry to hear you are having this issue. I do like my harness.
